Nancy L. Massengale (age 14) appears in the 1860 Scott Co., TN census with her parents, John and Mary Massengale, and younger siblings. In 1870, she and some of her siblings are living with Sarah "Massengale". Sarah was a Cecil by birth and I cannot find any record of marriage to a Massengale. Perhaps when John and Mary Massengale died, Sarah took on the responsibility of raising their children and adopted the surname?? Anyway, in 1900, Nancy Massengale (age 58) is living in Whitley Co., KY as a boarder with a family named Applegate. Also boarding there are two young men, George and Mat Reed, who MAY be Nancy's nephews. Apparently, Nancy Massengale never married. I cannot find her in the 1880 census nor can I find her after 1900. Can anyone tell me when and where she died or where she was in 1880? Thanks in advance!
