Thank you so much!!!

Your effort to pass this information to me is very meaningful and is an inspiration in my search.

I have just gotten home from an overnight trip to celebrate my 46th wedding anniversary or I would have replied sooner to your effort.

Wanted to ask you a question, first I see that you are from Redondo Beach California in your close to your previous message and, now the question, I have to ask if you are also descemded from the same McKee brothers as my husband?

The reason I ask is that one of the McKee brothers of the Hardeman Co TN family moved to Lauderdale / mostly Tipton Co TN in the decade following 1880. His name was Joseph McKee and one of his sons moved to, of all places, Redondo Beach California. Are you related by any chance?

You asked if James McKee / McKey is of interest ........ yes. He was married to Polly Sullivan and they were from Mecklenburg Co NC also. Ambrose McKee was a member of the wedding party of a daughter of James and I don't know the relationship but I have thought for years there must be kinship.

Ambrose McKee is shown as Ambrose Macky on the 1804 (I think that is the date - don't have the hard copy right at hand) petition to form Wilson Co TN.

I believe but have no hard proof that a brother to Ambrose and John and possibly James mentioned above is THOMAS MCKEE who was on the petition to organize the State of Franklin. Thomas was the oldest brother and I believe, again no hard proof, he took at least part of his family west of Mecklenburg Co NC following the death of his father in 1779. Another brother, William McKee, ended up in Panola Co MS as did a sister, Martha, who married Issaac Herron. These last mentioned were also in the area that became upper middle Tennessee any where from 1790 thru 1820 before going to Panola Co MS. The men appear to have been back and forth between North Carolina and Tennessee several times.

I am having an ongoing problem with my GENFORUM postings, Banner ads are blocking my ability to use the site much to my sorrow. I've worked with the help part of the forum for some time - they feel the problem is on my G5 dual processor MAC - my recently acquired hughes. net or who knows. If you prefer to use my email that would be fine.

Again, thanks so much. This information you've given me is going to fill in some blank spaces.

Linda McKee
