Paul,

My Nancy Wills was born 6/6/1788 and died 3/18/1854. She married Robert Ross born 10/12/1779 and died 11/23/1844. They are buried in the Ross/Cunningham Cemetery near Almaville in Rutherford Co. TN. This info came from their toombstone. They were married 11/28/1804 in Rutherford Co.

Here is what I have on James Wills and his dealings with Robert Ross, Nancy's husband:

Robert Ross was born October 12, 1779. He probably removed to Rutherford Co. TN after August 10, 1803, as his signature is not on the petition of that date favoring formation of the county. His first appearance in the Rutherford Co. TN records is on May 18, 1804 when he proved the sale of 340 acres of land in Rutherford County TN from Abraham Kennedy to James Ross, probably his brother. This land was originally granted to John Buchanan Pat. #2757, and by him to Abraham Kennedy

On November 28, 1804 he married Nancy Wills, born June 6, 1788 in Tennessee.

On December 29, 1804 he bought 170 acres from James Ross.

On September 5, 1805 he bought 124 acres on Stewart's Creek from James Wills, probably his father-in-law. James Wills served on the first county court jury in the town of Jefferson on July 2, 1804. On August 10, 1803 James signed a petition favoring forming Rutherford Co. from Davidson Co. and Williamson Co. In the July Term 1811 James Wills was appointed as one of five executors of the estate of James Morton. On October 5, 1813 James Wills was mentioned in the estate of James Freeman. James Wills may have come with James Morton, who removed from Charlottesville VA (Albemarle Co.) to Davidson Co. in 1800, part of which became and to Rutherford Co. in 1803.

Nancy Ross charged William Howell with being the father of a bastard child in 1808. James Whitsett and Thomas Nelson were security.

This is all I know of either Nancy or James. Any help appreciated.
