John MARTIN, 1810 census?

Looking for location and family information of John MARTIN.
He was in Hardin Co. in 1813 when that co. was formed. Some information indicates that he migrated from Coffee Co. However Coffee Co was not formed till 1836. Could he possible migrated from Coffee Co. area of Rutherford Co?
What type of records are available in Rutherford Co., during 1800 to 1820 time frame?
John MARTIN was supposedly born about 1810 in Coffee Co.
Obviously some of my data is incorrect.
Looking for additional info.
