Clement Read and Mary Hill had 8 children in Lunenberg County, VA in the early to mid 1700s. John Nash and Anne Owen also had 8 children in Prince Edward County about this time. These families merged when three of the Nash children and three of the Read children married in the mid 1700s (Thomas Nash to Mary Read, Thomas Read to Elizabeth Nash, and Clement Read to Mary Nash. Clement Read married Mary Nash in VA in 1757. The three Nash children were siblings of Nashville's namesake, Brigadier General Francis Nash, and my 4th great grandfather, NC Governor Abner Nash. Clement Read and Mary Nash had children who moved to Rutherford County and married into the Bedford, Rucker, Barksdale, Johns, and other Middle Tennessee families. If you are a Nash, Read, Bedford, Rucker, Barksdale, Johns, etc. descended from the Nash/Reads in VA please respond to this post or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
