Hi Jackie,

I'm a descendant of John Espy and his 1st wife Jane Oates.

....but I have his 2nd wife as Mariah CLARK not Mariah COOK ???

Quoting from the ESPY GENEALOGY:

"John married second 25 September 1837, Rutherford County, TN, Esther Mariah Clark, daughter of quire John and Ester (Partin/Partain) Clark."

"Mariah's mother, Ester was born in North Carlina and was the daughter of Jacob Mack Partin/Partain. After Squire Clark's death, she married a Mr. Billington; Ester was a widow the second time when she died on 1 July 1866.

Children listed for John Espy and Mariah Clark are:

Samuel E Espy, Mary Espy, Robert L C Espy, and Joseph M Espy...Mary, Robert, and Joseph died young.
