Have you seen any of the surnames Arnold, Shelton, Duncan, Mankin, Holden, McCollum, listed with any of your Reed family in Rutherford or nearby counties in Tennessee?
There is an Elizabeth Reade, listed in an 1806 will of William Arnold, Sr., in Rutherford County. I think she was a daughter of William and Reade was her married name. If so, I don't know who her husband was. She would have been born circa late 1770/1780s, in Virginia or N. Carolina.
I also have a Jane Reid, born abt. 1787, NC. She married Ralph Arnold, s/o William, Sr., in Tennessee and moved to Lincoln Co., TN, then in Jackson Co., Alabama by 1840.
