Jesse Perkins (husband of Mariah Williams) was Surety for the marriage of Lodowick Williams and Shady Lockhart on 31 Jul 1834 in Rutherford County, TN. I speculate that Jesse was his son-in-law and for this reason he was surety for the marriage. This is a solid lead to begin developing a relationship between Mariah and Lodowick Williams. Lodowick and his first wife were both age 50-60 in the 1830 census of Rutherford County, TN. In the 1840 census he again gave his age as 50-60 and the female in the home was age 30-40. This female appears to be Shady Lockhart. She was probably his second wife and many years his junior. His first wife was probably the mother of Mariah. A sibling of Mariah could be Samuel M. Williams, who married Lucretia Lockhart on 18 Feb 1835 in Rutherford County, TN. He was age 30-40 and lived next door to Lodowick in 1840. He appears to be his son. There was also a younger fellow named Loderick Williams who married Nancy Green on 7 Jul 1843 in Rutherford County, TN. He could be the male age 5-10 in Lodowick's household in the 1830 census, but this is just a guess based on the similarity of names. I hope this helps. Notify Administrator about this message?
