My gggrandfather, John Hay(e)s, apparently puchased land and paid taxes on 83 acres on Hinds Valley Creek. A loose document(tax receipt) in his succession records in St Tammany Parish, LA state that he must have owned land there prior to 1811. Also online there is a sale to Jane Preston of 211 acres on Hinds Valley Creek. So this 83 acres might have been more. Is this the same location you are speaking about? Do you have any records in your land sales research here that show this purchase? Am I correct that this land is close to the Tennessee River?
