I am seeking info on William Garrett who was born in GA and was shot and several days later on 2/06/1897 died from his wounds in Roane Co, TN. He married Mary Catherine O'Kelley who was born 7/04/1861 in GA and died in 1/22/1945 in Hamilton Co, TN. She is buried in Chickamauga Cemetery, Walker Co, GA. Their children were: John Henry born 8/1887 in GA, Franklin born 5/31/1890 in Catoosa Co, GA, Robert born 10/27/1894, and Willie Mae born 2/04/1897 in Roane Co, TN.
William may be buried in a pauper's cemetery in Roane Co, TN - RE: - From Chattanooga Daily Times, 2/12/1897: "Harriman, Tenn., 2/11 - Henry E. Ball, ex-register of Roane Co raised quiet a handsome donation this week for the widow and children of the late Wm Garrett, who unfortunately lost his life at the hands of Robert L McGuffin." Would anyone be aware of a pauper's cemetery in Roane County in the 1890s? Would anyone be aware of a listing of those buried in any pauper's cemetery during this time?
Mary Catherine was remarried to Joseph Wright by the 1900 Roane Co, TN census and had three additional children. I have a bit more info on Catherine, however, absolutely nothing more on William.
Should you have info on these two people, especially Will Garrett, I would certainly appreciate your help. Thanks.
