I should have looked more closely before I posted a reply just a couple of hours ago. Contrary to the message I posted in haste, I don't believe that the Elijah Langley who married Charlotte _____ is the Elijah, son of Jeremiah Langley. Following is the family I believe he really belongs to. JAMES LANGLEY (probably son of William Langley)-- b. 23 Mar 1762-"on the James River", Hampton Co., VA d. 1868 (106 years old!)-Chambers County, Alabama md. about 1788 - of Maury Co., Tennessee wife: __________________ (died in Perry Co., Tenn.) Children: (1) Caleb Langley or Longley b. about 1790 - of Maury County, Tennessee md. 10 May 1816 - Maury County, Tennessee Wife: Sophronia Makon (Caleb and Sophronia were still childless in 1820--even though they are both 26. It appears that Caleb and Sophronia left Tennn. before 1830--unless Caleb is the widowed son living with James Langley in 1830 with five small children born 1820-1830.) (2) John S. Langley b. about 1797 - of Maury County, Tennessee (3) Elijah Langley b. about 1798 - of Perry County, Tennessee d. 1856 - Probably Benton Co., Tennessee md. abt. 1818/19 - prob. Maury or Perry Co., Tenn. Wife: Charlotte_______________ Children: Lucretia Langley b. 1830/31 - Tennessee William R. Langley b. 1821/32 - Tennessee Nancy Langley b. 1834/35 - Tennessee John Langley b. 1838/39 - Tennessee George Langley b. 1842/43 - Tennessee Napoleon Langley b. 1847/48 - Tennessee (4) (Female) Langley (5) (Female) Langley (6) (Female) Langley The father, James Langley, served in the North Carolina MIlitia during the Revolution. He lived in Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia before finally setting in Chambers County, Alabama about 1837. He died in 1868 at at the age of 106 years, and is buried at Mt. Pisgah Primitive Baptist Church in Stroud, Alabama. Notify Administrator about this message?
