Hello Bob,

I am from the Tucker, Cardin/Kirkland line from Monroe County. My branch of the family was William Thomas Cardin/Kirkland married to Martha Evaline Tucker. They left Monroe County and moved to the Idaho/Washington area. Their son, Teed Cardin, was my grandfather on my mother's side.

I have searched for Martha's mother's information. I have found that she was Martha Elizabeth Mitchell, North Carolina, who married James Breedlove and had two children, Celia and Elijah.

James died when the children were toddlers and Martha moved to Monroe County with her parents, John and Barby Mitchell. In 1865 Martha married John Johnson Tucker started another family. I cannot find any trace of Celia or Elijah after she married John Tucker.
What branch of the family are you/your boys from?
Does my information match yours?
Do you know what happened to the children?
Do you know anything of Barby Mitchell's family?

We have no record of William Thomas Cardin/Kirkland's death. The family said he died 1930. Do you know of his death record?
I have good pictures of William Thomas Cardin/Kirkland, his wife, Martha Evaline Tucker and some of their children.
I would love to have copies of any pictures you have. I will share what I have with you. I also have borrowed a family history with pictures, family trees and wonderful stories written by a grandaughter of William and Martha Cardin/Kirkland. I am copying pages so I can have a booklet. You can reach me at

I hope you can help me with this geneology.
