I am looking to see if the Smiths living in the same area as these McDonalds are related. And also specifically if they had a daughter named Narcissa Caroline/Carrie/Carline Smith. I have a Carrie/Caroline/Carline (nee Smith) McDonald (born ca. 1845-1860) living in McMinn in 1870 and in 1880 they were living in Monroe County, Tennessee. Her husband was Noble W. McDonald but is listed as M M or M W in the census. I do not know her parents names. Noble's parents were Levi McDaniel/McDonald and Harriett of Haywood County, North Carolina from about 1840 until their deaths. N. W. Mcdonald and Carline SMITH had: Dock F., John, Julia, Marion, Anna, George W., H. Cordelia "Cordy" and Pete. All of the children except for Pete was born in TN. Pete was born in whitman County, Washington in about 1888. The 1910 census of Whitman County, Washington says that N. W. (he was referred to as Noble W. in the census) was born in October of 1843 in NC and lists Carline as being both Narcissa and Carline as being born in Oct 1848 in Georgia. The oral history states that her maiden name was Smith and that she was born in Georgia. Her father was an undertaker (he made coffins) in Atlanta during the Civil War. During his military service in the confederacy, Noble W. McDonald was told to visit the Smith family by his mother as they were cousins. Noble McDonald/McDaniel and Carrie Smith got married when she was 16. I do not have a marriage record for them. The census tells me that they were married about 1865-1868. If anyone has any information about the Smiths in this (McMinn County, Tennessee or Monroe County, Tennessee) area or a broader area of TN, NC, VA or GA, please let me know. BTW, another name for Caroline is: Carolina Charlotte Lottie Charlotta Charly Charley Linney Linny If anyone has any information, please reply to the message or you can contact me at: mnewsum@hotmail.com or paloma@drizzle.com thank you for your time mary newsum Notify Administrator about this message?
