In Reply to: Robert PATTERSON- 12th Tenn. Infantry by Ann Blackwood Chernow of 41083

I have a ancestor William Patterson from Anderson County, Tn, who was enlisted on the union army but deserted several times he had a nephew robert, who served in the confedrate army was killed and his wife recieved a confederate widows pension. William patterson's son james finley served on the union side and was imprisoned on Belle's Island for along time. The national Archives has a picture of Robert Patterson in unifrom with his pistol and what looks like a saber or long knive on his side. To my knowledge I haven't found a picture of william or James Finley in their uniforms. William also had a another son who served. I know they were in the 12th Tn but it was Cavalry not Infantry, I believe. I would like to see a copy of the page and picture to see which family member it is. Thanks anna, you can reach me at annas50@yahoo.com
