Hi Janie,

Jack Goins sent me a copy of your letter to him. I was very impressed. I can't help but think that George Ridley, with sons Moses and William, are somehow related to Moses Ridley who was in Granville Co., VA in 1750. I have the letter from the Draper Manuscripts, 3XX51, written by William Martin wherein he says, concerning "Capt. George Ridley. The old gentleman I was acquainted with from my early boyhood and the greater part of the time most intimately. He was raised in VA....to Holston...about the year [17]78... there until...when he and a good many others came here by Watauga... I know nothing of Capt. Ridley's ancestry. I think he told me that he was a bastard child of obscure parentage. He was large, athletic and bold.... Have you run into this letter, and what do you think of it?

Mary Hill
