How to find where someone was born?

Hello,

I am trying to find where an ancestor was born. Her name was Cynthia Adelia (or Delia) "Dilly" Raily. She was born in 1802 and her father was Samuel Railey. I believe her mother's name was Cynthia Marler.

One of her son's death certificate says she was born in West Virginia.
The 1850 Census says she was born in Tennessee.
The 1860 Census says she was born in Virginia.
The 1870 Census says she was born in South Carolina.
The 1880 Census says she was born in North Carolina.

Any advice on how to prove which is correct? Thank you!
