William M. MARTIN, CSA, 5th TN Infantry Regiment

Seeking parents % siblings of William M. MARTIN; born May 17, 1830 (Henry County); died Jan 08, 1917; buried in Nancy Smith Cemetery, Somervell County, TX. Prior to enlisting in the CSA, it is believed that William was married to Larretta E. ADEN (06 Nov 1857, Henry County) and it is speculated that she died as a result of childbirth complications. One report suggests that William's father and mother were born in VA (not known when, or where). William served as a "Teamster" in the 5th Tennessee Infantry Regiment, Company C, with enlistments of: Jan 15, 1862; May 15, 1862 (Corinth, MS); and, May 15, 1863 (Shelbyville, TN); discharge date is unknown. Appears in the 1870 TX Census for Bosque County, enumerated with William GLASS, Mary Jane LaFON, and James RIDGEWAY. Appears in 1880 TX Census for Somervell County with spouse Caroline "Callie" (married c.1871). Children were: William Thomas (1872-1948); John Quincy (1874-1937); Robert H, (1876-1918); Beulah FAGALA (1878-1973); Elisha Austin (1881-1962). Unable to locate record of birth, record of marriage, or record of death in either State or County archives...
