RITES SATURDAY
FOR C. HAWKINS

OCEANA-- Funeral services for Chester E.
Hawkins, 61, of Kopperstown will be at
11 a.m. Saturday in the Toneda Baptist
Church with Rev. Nelson Harris and Rev.
Judd Alford in charge. Burial will be
in the Cook Cemetery at Oceana.

Hawkins died instantly Wednesday afternoon
when a pistol he was examining discharged,
striking him near the heart. The incident
occurred at the home of Seaman Marcum
of Oceana.

Born April 4, 1907, at Marytown, he was
the son of the late Edward Levi and Flora
Perkins Hawkins.

His wife, Pauline Saunders Hawkins, died
in 1967.

Survivors include a son, Donald of Westminster,
Colo,; a daughter, Miss Charlotte Hawkins, at
home; a stepson, Pete Morrison of Wharton;
four brothers, M.H. of Miami, Fla., Joe of
Levittown, NJ, Howard of Baltimore, MD, and
Jim of Fairfax, VA; two granddaughters and
a great-granddaughter.

He was a member of Oceana Lodge No. 129,
Independent Order of Odd Fellows, an Oceana
District constable and Wyoming County school
bus driver for several years.

The body will remain at Evans Funeral Home
in Oceana where friends may call from 2-10
p.m. today.
