Hi Sue,
Doug Corbin on the Arkansas forum found this information:
Quoted from that forum:
Here's a marrige from Hardin Co, TN.
Tennessee State Marriages, 1780-2002
Name: J N Gann
Spouse: Sarah D McLemore
Marriage Date: 27 Feb 1878
Marriage County: Hardin
Marriage State: Tennessee
Maybe Sarah D was named Sarah Delitha. I've seen a lot of females named Telitha or a close variant. Maybe the census taker in 1900 heard her name was Sarah Delitha and "heard" it as Sarah Telitha so he wrote her name down as Sarah T.
The only problem with the above is that J N Gann is in Hardin Co, TN in 1880 but his wife's name is Mary. Maybe it's a different J N Gann. Also he was born in AL.
1880 United States Federal Census
Census Place District 6, Hardin, Tennessee
Page Number 74C
J. N. GANN Self M Male W 21 AL Farmer --- ---
Mary GANN Wife M Female W 18 TN Keeps House TN TN
End Quote.
Now the J.N. I am looking for was not married to a Mary. I looked up J.N. Gann and found numerous ones for those initials....his birthdate would most likely be around 1854 +/- 5 years, so that could narrow it down too. On the 1900(? - can't remember off the top of my head) Census she's listed as widowed, and definately listed as widowed on the 1920 census. I am also going to post this on the Gann forum. I am assuming that he would have died after Wheeler Gann was born, he's their youngest child, so his death date would have to be bewteen 1892 and 1900. In a nutshell, I deduce that my J.N. Gann would have to have been born between 1849 and 1859 and died between 1892 and 1900. Hope this helps!
I really appreciate all the help!
