GREENE COUNTY, TN

What we know about the KEY, MOORE family. Geroge KEY and Margaret JORDON must have been living in Hawkins County, TN in 1836 due to the birthdate of Francis Marion Key. At some point after that the family moved to Greene County, TN and by 1850 they had moved to Grayson County, TX. George died in TX and it appears that Margaret may have moved back to Greene County that same year with the children that were still living at home. We also know that Francis married a Martha Jane MOORE in 1860 and that one of their sons went to OK when he was 17 to live with his aunt, a sister to Martha, and the aunts married name was HERD. The MOORE family also lived in Greene County and moved to Grayson County by 1859. Martha and Francis had a daughter Rosa who married Ira Tilton WEEMS and the WEEMS are also from Greene County. Marthas parents were Jake (could have been a nickname) KEY and FISHNER (first name unknown). We feel there is a strong possibility that the KEY, MOORE AND WEEMS families all knew each other from Greene County. George and Margarets children were: Jane M., Andrew Jackson, George W., Green, Margaret, Francis Marion, Dayton John, Martha, Harrison, Christopher and DeMarcus (the last two were twins). Francis and Marthas children were all born in Grayson County: Pilus D., George Washington, Benjamin "Gid" Marion or Monroe, Molly E., Charles A. "Charley", William, Rosa Catherine, Lucilla, Martha "Annie", Sally and Ransom. We know that many of their decsendants still live in TN, TX and OK, it is just a matter of finding you. Please e-mail me at JSABSK@aol.com, I would love to exchange information.
