I tried to respond to your email, but kept getting "permanent failure" delivery messages... so I'll post my response here. HI Yes, based on experiences, my guess was that "Acy M" could have been Samuel. Not only did the children and wife match up closely between 1870 & 1880 info, it surely wouldn't be the first time I've seen a nickname used on only one census while the rest of family info fit into various census. Plus they still resided in the same town both years. 1870 I didn't find a Sam*, and found only one Jul*s, who was residing with Acy. I could find nor more info on Acy, nor could I find any info on what I felt was a duplicate name of his children, other than info later associating the same with Samuel M. But, as I tell others, YOU would know more about your family than I would. Nothing I post is 100% fact, it's usually census info which can be erred both in interpretation and transcriptions. It's up to the researcher to use what information given to them on forums, or donated by others, as clues and for them to document, document, document! Sometimes it's necessary to veer of one's direct ancestor and venture onto a sibling to find such documentation, which is why I posted the death records info. Good Luck in your searching.....
