Seriously Hurt in Collision of Cars
McLemoresville, Jan. 1: D. S. MCREYNOLDS, teacher of vocational agriculture in McLemoresville Collegiate Institute, was seriously Saturday evening, returning from visiting his parents in Mississippi. Dr. FESMIRE of Atwood dressed his wounds. The other car was driven by W. E. PINKLEY.

JESSE L. HOLMES of Juno and son THOBURN of Memphis spent Sunday visiting relatives and friends. Jesse is one of the old M.C.I. boys who are always welcome back.
MISS WILLIE BELL BROWN of Memphis spent Christmas with her parents.
MRS. WILL BOULDIN, formerly MISS JENNIE NEELY, and sister of MRS. J. R. HAILEY, once a student at M.C.I, died recently at her home in Mississippi. She visited her sister here last summer.
CLIFFORD RUST and children of Huntingdon spent Christmas with MRS. SALLIE ROBINSON, MRS. D. A. MURCHISON, and children of Atwood.
Dean H. B. EVANS of Bethel College, wife and daughter spent several days here during Christmas.
GORDON ROGERS was home for Christmas.
GORDON BLOW, wife and MRS. GUY CHANCE of Latonia, Kentucky spent the holidays here with relatives.
IRA MCKINNEY, MILTON FAGG, and CLARENCE GARDNER of Memphis were visitors here.
MISS OPAL HARRELL of the University of Tennessee spent the week with her parents. Of course, she and MISS VIRGINIA HILLSMAN who is attending college at Baton Rouge, Louisiana had to exchange pleasant visits. With friends and relatives, they enjoyed a splendid dinner at the home of Mr. and Mrs. CLARENCE WINGO.
CHARLES SCOTT, our accommodating telephone man, moved to Holly Leaf and Mr. and Mrs. L. R. CLOYD took charge of the telephone exchange. Mrs. Cloyd was formerly MISS EDNA DELANEY.
TOMMY CHANCE and family moved back from Mississippi and he will take charge of his mother’s farm. BROOKS CHANCE, who has been there the past year, will move to his place near the school.
WALTER PEARCE and family visited homefolks.
Holiday Weddings: Sunday of last week two weddings were solemnized at McLemoresville. MARVIN HODGSON and MISS EDNA EARL YANCEY of Trezevant were married at the home of BROOKS CHANCE by Rev. M. D. CLAYBORN. The other couple was FLOYD WILSON and MISS IRENE ROLLINS of Buena Vista who drove here for Bro. CLAYBORN to perform the ceremony.


CLIFFORD H. JARRETT and MISS WILMA JOHNSON Wed
A surprise wedding to many friends of both families and to their parents was performed at the home of ‘Squire L. A. HURT, Dec. 23, 1928 2 p.m. when CLIFFORD H. JARRETT of Huntingdon and MISS WILMA ESTELLE JOHNSON were joined in marriage with the genial ‘Squire officiating. They were attended by WILLIE MURRAY JARRETT and MISS GUYNETH JOHNSON. They left immediately for Memphis for a short honeymoon. The groom, who has a good position with the Gulf Refining Co. at Nashville, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. JARRETT. He is a young man of splendid character. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. E. JOHNSON of Route 3 and possesses charming traits of character.

JARRETT-HICKMAN
Among the first of the holiday weddings was that of BEN A. JARRETT of Clarksburg and MISS DORIS HICKMAN of Lavinia, who were married Monday afternoon, Dec. 24 at the Huntingdon parsonage with Rev. L. D. HAMILTON of the Methodist Church officiating. The bride is the talented daughter of Dr. and Mrs. W. H. HICKMAN of Lavinia and a teacher at Lavinia High School. The groom is a student at the dental school of the University of Tennessee and taught school at one time in Lavinia where he met his bride.

MADDOX-HARBERT Take Nuptial Vows
POE W. MADDOX, son of Judge and Mrs. P. W. MADDOX, and MISS FLORINE HARBERT, daughter of Judge and Mrs. L. P. HARBERT of Savannah, were quietly married at the home of Mr. and Mrs. C. L. WILKINSON, Lambuth Blvd., Jackson Wednesday afternoon by Rev. J. N. PENICK, dean of the theological department of the Union university and uncle of the groom… Owing to illness in the home of the bride’s family, the vows were taken at Jackson. Those attending from here were Judge and Mrs. P. W. MADDOX, Mr. and Mrs. D. D. MADDOX and daughter JACQUELINE, JOE T. HESTER, J. M. MCCORMICK, and Congressman GORDON BROWNING, Mr. and Mrs. L. L. HARBERT, parents of the bride, P. M. HARBERT, MRS. JACK YEISER and BOB GUIN of Savannah, MISS HATTIE RUETON of Adamsville, R. J. WILKINSON and MRS. SAM DICKERY of Satillo, MISSES MARY PENN and MARGARET FOLTZ of Humboldt and JOHN PENICK, attorney at Huntingdon. Following a Southern wedding trip, they will be at home in Chattanooga where the groom is connected with CHARLES A. NOONE in the practice of law; he is a Vanderbilt man in both academic and law. The bride graduated from the University of Tennessee and taught in the West Kentucky Normal at Murray.

Hunter Accidentally Shot
Paris, Tenn., Dec. 29: TILMAN HERNDON, 49 years old, a barber at Camden, is in a hospital as a result of a hunting accident near Big Sandy. His right arm was amputated and doubt of recovery is expressed by the attending surgeons as blood poisoning set up. Herndon, while going through some woods, fell over a log, discharging the shotgun.

Skull Crushed by Kick of a Mule
Hollow Rock, Jan. 1: A near fatal accident occurred at the home of MRS. SAVANNAH GROOM near Vale several days ago when a mule kicked the little six year old son of ERDIE PRESSON on the head, rendering him unconscious. He was taken to Nashville where several pieces of his skull were removed, has not regained consciousness.

Christmas Rows Result in Death
Christmas Eve, JOHN DALTON, col., and wife staged a shooting affray in the Baptist bottom. She was shot and taken to a Paris hospital.
Two colored men had a shooting scrape near Lavinia over a dog. SMITH and WOODSON shot it out; both wounded, then Woodson died.

ROSS-O’BRIEN
A wedding of much interest came as a surprise to their many friends was that of ROBERT O’BRIEN and MISS FANNIE ROSS which took place at the home of Mr. and Mrs. BERRY WILES on the night of Dec. 27, ATLAS DAVIS performed the ceremony. The bride is the daughter of J. A. ROSS of the 7th district and the groom is a prosperous farmer at Henderson County.

Deaths
The year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. TURNER BUSH died Sunday afternoon of flu and pneumonia.
MRS. VINNIE HALL died Monday morning at the home of her daughter MRS. MOLLIE TOSH and was buried at Christian Chapel cemetery Tuesday. She is survived by her daughter MRS. TOSH and two sons JOHN who resides here and WILL HALL in Texas, and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Flu Spreading
The influenza epidemic seems to be getting scattered everywhere but most cases are light so far. Entire families are sick, among them are Mr. and Mrs. J. R. GOODRUM and children, Mr. and Mrs. CHARLES LEWIS and son, Mr. and Mrs. CLYDE KELLEY, MRS. JIM BELEW.

A wedding of much interest to their friends was that of PAUL RICHEY of Jonesboro, Arkansas and MISS BEATRICE NOLEN of this place. The wedding was solemnized Wednesday morning Dec. 26 in the presence of a few friends with Rev. J. G. COOPER saying the ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. C. NOLEN. The groom is employed at Jonesboro where they will live.

Infant Died
Little JESSE LEE THOMAS, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. ISAAC THOMAS of the 24th district, died Dec. 29 and was buried at Mt. Comfort Dec. 30. The baby was five weeks four days old.
Kicked by Mule
JOHN JONES was seriously hurt when he was kicked by a mule.
