I have been up against a brick wall trying to find ancestors of Alexander Burford, probably born in Tennessee in March 1820, died in 1858 in Illinois probably in Clay or Richland County. His wife was Nancy (maiden name probably Reynolds). I found him in the 1850 federal census in Richland County, Illinois. There were two sons listed in the household, ages about 2 and 4, names George W. and William B. Burford. It's the only census I have found this Alexander Burford in. I have found his son (my grandfather), Alexander Oscar Burford (born 1857, died 1929) in later censuses. I'm trying to find information on who Alexander's (the one born about 1820) parents might have been and any siblings he had -- generally any history at all on him. Any help anyone can provide would be most appreciated. I just haven't been able to make any progress on this at all.
