The first 50 years I referred to were the 1700's prior to the Revolutionary War. At that time many euro settlers in the Carolina/GA colonies were indian traders and lived with the Cherokee. After the Rev WAR the Tories (families that remained loyal to England) were evicted and hung when caught. The Cherokee towns took many of them in as refugees as the Cherokee had sided with England during that time. That time frame would work out to make your ggrandfather 1/8.
