Looking for relatives!!! At a dead end!!!!!!!!
I am currently at a dead end in my research.
My father's name is Robert Odelle Barnes.
My grandfather's name is James Odell Barnes. He was retired from Angel's Diner in Polatka, Florida. He was born on September 8, 1906 in either Grtaniteville or Warrenville, SC. He married Margie Lois Gunter on April 30, 1935, in Aiken, SC. Lived in Putnam County, Florida, in Polatka, married a second time to Maxine Lorene Lowe and had another son Odelle with her, He died March 15, 1977.
My ggrandfather's name was Alonzo Clarence Barnes (A.C.). He was born August 17, 1876. He married Emmie Sanders born December 25, 1888. They had 4 children: Albert born in 1905(?), Alonzo (Lonnie) born in 1903;died in 1971, Tollie E. born June 2, 1910, died September 12, 1928, and my grandfather James. My ggrandfather worked at the mill in Graniteville and was beat up by a gang of boys when walking home one night. He died at the hospital from his injuries on July 5, 1913. Emmie Sanders Barnes next married Henry Fletcher Boatwright from Batesburg Leesville.
The Barnes' could possibly have moved into Bulloch County, Georgia near Portal or Statesboro or possibly even Augusta.
If anyone has any info it would be greatly appreciated.
I did find an 1880 census for Edgefield County-Ward Township for William J. Barnes, wife Theodosia E. with Children: James E., Alonzo C. (who could be my ggrandfather) and Carrie T.I have also found a Charles Odell Barnes buried in Tennessee.
Please help!!!!!
Sincerely,
Mitzi Barnes Kennedy
