Hello to all. I'm looking for info for William Garrigus in Maury co. Tenn., that died after 1820/1821. Research has Shows that a William Garrigus weas in this county by 1816. This can be seen in the early Tenn. tax records. Also with him are Matthew and John Garrigus. They were brothers that came over from North Caroline. There was a flu outbreak that took many Maury County people around 1818-1821. William was one of these who died from this flu. Also William was shown on the 1820 Maury Co. census, but could not be found on ANY 1830 tenn., N.c., or Ga. census. The 1820 census list William's huosehold as Males-2 less than 10 yrs., 2 -10 to 16, and 1- 26 to 45. Female- 3 less than 10, and 1 26 to 45. Then in 1840, a William Gargus shows up with household listing males- 2 20 to 30, Females- 1 40 to 50. Is this the son of the William on the 1820 census? Does anyone know the answer? Is this the Willian Garrigus that married Susan Parker in Giles Co. Tenn. after 1840? If so this is the break in my Garrigus line back to the Pa. garrigues. Need some input--bad. Thanks for your time-- -Mel Wootan
