Barbara, Today I was at the Marshall County Archives, which only have marriage records, looking up a marriage certificate for someone else. Marshall County has a ledger type record with dates of marriage bond and date of marriage, along with names of bride and groom. This is signed by person performing ceremony. Above the copy of the ledger entry I was looking for was Allen F. Swinney and Nancy Oliver. They took out a marriage bond on December 17, 1845, but there is no record of a ceremony ever being performed. Could they have been married somewhere else? Thought this may be of interest to you.
