I'm trying to establish the connection of my grgrgrandfather, Jacob Edwards, b. 1801 in SC (per census records) to David and Eva Lazenia Edwards. David died in Hickman CO in 1817. Eva apparently remarried to a Reuben McClaren (sp?) following David's death. I have no info on Eva's lineage (any help here would be appreciated).
Jacob lived most of his life in Hardeman CO, TN (he shows up in records in 1824) and then moved to Independence CO, AR in the 1850s with several of his children where he (presumably) died (that is another mystery).
My Edwards clan has records (reported to be copied from a family bible) which shows Jacob's siblings to be Jemima (8/8/1792), Rachel (7/2/1794), Aaron B. (6/16/1795), Caleb B. (10/10/1798), Jacob Lezena (3/16/1801), Jesse W. (7/27/1802), Patsy (could this be Martha) (12/3/1806), Joana (6/12/1810), Nickolas Dolman (10/15/1812) and Amos A. (10/27/1814). The records do not mention Jacob's parents. At least some of these children have been attached to David and Eva Edwards. Where does one find the "comprehensive records" which attaches David and Eva's children to them? DAR records suggest that David was born in 1778 and married in 1798. However, some of the children above were born prior to 1798. If the marriage date is incorrect, then David started fathering children at a young age.
Jacob's children were Elihu (my grgrandfather), Amos, Betsy, Jamina Jane, James Franklin, Benjamin, Martha, Sarah, Jesse Wilson and Mary. There are several common names, so there appears to be a connection.
All census records say that Jacob was born in SC. However, I have not read anything to suggest that David and Eva were ever in SC. However, if David is the son of Andrew and Phoebe Meadors Edwards, then it is possible as they moved to Laurens CO, SC in the late 1790s/early 1800s and lived out their lives.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
