I am probably telling you something you already know, but the first governor of Wisconsin was a Doty and I've heard it said that he was descended from Edward Doty too. There is a Dotyville in WI and the Doty name pops up as street names in some towns. I also know Doty descendants in Iowa. But sadly, I don't have any information about Samuel's ancestors.
