I too am very interested in Benjamin Dowdy. My gg-grandfather and my ggg-grandfather, both named John Wiley Dowdy, are found as neighbors to Benjamin Dowdy on the 1860 census for Manleyville. On the same page we find James Aden Lowry, my ggg-grandfather, and Elijah Lowry, my gg-grandfather. John Wiley (the younger) had a son John Thomas who married Wincey Lowry, the daughter of Elijah. We have no evidence that Benjamin was connected to our Dowdys, but we strongly suspect that he was the brother of the elder John Wiley. If this is so, it would also lead us to suspect that both are descended from or related to Benjamin Dowdy of Georgia.
