Dear Janis, I think I have found your Rev James S Smith. He is bur at Tabernacle UMC Cem abt 5 miles NE of Brownsville off TN Hwy #79 going east to Bells TN. His dates are 19 dec 1788-1 oct 1844. His wife is listed as Amanda Elizabeth Ann Taylor(1828-1851) , dau of Capt Howell Taylor Jr & Mary Pettus Venerable. She was written up in the Meth newspaper, Southwester Christian Advocate, pub in Nashville TN. She could certainly be a 2nd or 3rd wife. There are a family of Greens there as well. At Oakwood Cem in Brownsville, there is another James Smith, dates 23 Mar 1798-7 Jul ----, his wife is Annie Elizabeth Maclin (1807-1858). There are Greens here as well. Thomas Green Smith is bur here, 10 Jan 1820-18Oct 1867/9 with wife Bethenia Hardin Patton (from other sources, not on current O Cem list. We have a very incomplete Cem list. Thomas R/Tiff Smith is there (abt 1848 - Aug 1885, wife is Dora(Madora) Alston,(26Jun 1850-3 May 1916)who mar Nathanial Flournoy (1839-1909) as her 2nd hus. Nothing on Robert or Nancy. I hope this gives you some help. Ms Tyrrell Jones Bond, 2660 Stour Rd Cove, Memphis TN 38119, tyjobond@bellsouth.net
