Hi My Name Is Marshall Maddox
kin to Dovie Roberts who is My Great Grandmother. She was born 1897 in Sneedville. She died 1955 Big Stone Gap VA. Her Second husband Charlie Collins was Charlie Collins my Great Grandfather, born in 1892 in Sneedville. He died in December 1977 in Norton Va. They lived on Newman’s Ridge until they moved to Lee County VA about 1920. Dove’s daughter from her first husband (John Jesse Collins) was Flora. Dovie and Charlie’s children are Pauline and Estill. Charlie’s Dad left would come back and meet Charlie there. We have sent off for his Death certificate to find the name of his father and mother. When they lived in Big Stone he would make trips to Sneedville to visit family. We are having trouble finding anyone that knows anything about him. They always told us his mother had red hair and that his father was an Indian Chief. We don’t even know if Charlie’s parents were ever married in the Traditional since. Charlie and Dovie’s daughter Pauline was born in Sneedville in 1919 sometime after that they moved to Lee County VA. We have some Collins names are kin to Dovie and Charlie Collins
