I'm not having trouble "reading" the pages, I posted my message to alert people to the fact that the pages for the 1870 Hardeman Co., TN, census ARE OUT OF ORDER.

It appears the mistake was made by NARA, *not* Ancestry.com, so it may affect all versions and sources. In other words, the mistake appears to be in the binding of the original pages, so the error is in the microfilm, itself. This is not an indexing or transcriber error, it's a binding error -- or possibly the microfilmer's error.

If the census record for a family doesn't span two pages, you won't have a problem. If the family spans two pages, you have to be extremely careful that the record on the next page/image really is a continuation of the previous page. I have found cases where it is not.
