What part are you disagreeing with? We are Native Americans and five generations back my ancestor signed the Emigration Roll seven people down from Major John Walker. He married Martha Walker and lived between the reservation of Major Walker and one of Nancy Wards reservations. I have him as a family of three that went west with the Cherokees in 1829. On the first boat. I have his evaluation and his payment two years later in Oklahoma. When he and his family were five. I have other payments by George Vashon. I have him getting a rifle, blanket, kettle,5 pounds of tobacco. I probably have more evidence than lots of other Cherokee families. (Several Documents) Seems pretty clear cut to me.
I dont particularly buy into the idea people were not Cherokee even though they lived with the Cherokees, went west with the Cherokee, married into the Cherokees etc. I think Nancy Ward one of the most recognized CHerokees of all times descended from another tribe and her cousin Dragging Canoe was also. Does this logic mean they were not Cherokee too.
I can tell you there are hundreds of our line who will DNA test Native American. Still living in Burke Co. NC, Polk County TN, Carter County Tn, Roane Co TN, Morgan County Tn. Blount Co. TN, Sevier Co. TN Caldwell Co NC. Georgia, Mississippi, Texas. Michigan. (we tested them so I know)
I would like to see your evidence against there being any Native American Hiltons or Heltons.
By The way check out Rev. War soldier John Mabe and his wife Lucinda Hilton Mabe. Sister to Abraham Hilton, (Tested NA) Peter Hilton (Tested NA) Jeremiah Hilton, Thomas Hilton (Tested NA) Beecham Hilton.(Tested NA) Half of the Mabes filed out Guion Miller apps to Ned Sizemore and the other half to Lucinda Hilton. Our family filed thousands of pages of apps to the Cherokee Nation. Even had the government to admit we were Indians just didnt know for sure if we were Cherokees,
Sometimes those old family stories are true. Are the Hawkins County Hiltons NA, I dont know but wish they would test.
You are a smart man David I have read your post. But the verdict is out on what happened in the Early 1700's In South VA and Northern NC. It seems to me the Lawsons were there, Luneys, Hookers, Sizemores, Lumbees,Goins,Freemans, Wolfe, Martins, Smiths and who knows what else will turn up. Our line just happened to be a direct male line. Maybe someday I will come closer to figuring out what happened to these people. Until then, I will research and document everything.
