Thanks for responding. I would like to ask you a few questions concerning info in your post, and add a few comments.
My questions are:
1. Could you tell me who the Holt descendant was whose DNA was a match with the Pleasant Holt line? I've either been responsible for or been in touch with all the Pleasant Holt descendants who have matched DNA as far as I know. They are my brother (John R. Holt), my second cousin (Ronald D. Holt), my third cousin (Shirley Holt) and an unknown connection (Charles David "Dave" Holt). Dave's earliest known Holt ancestor was Henry Holt of Floyd and Pike Counties in KY. He's worked for years trying to find out this Henry's connection to any TN Holts, but with no success. I also tracked down descendants of two other sons of the Grainger/Claiborne Cos. Henry Holt, those sons being Preston and Kendrick. These two descendants did DNA testing, matched each other, and matched with the Richard/Robert Holt line. I still don't know how this Henry Holt line connects to the Richard/ Robert Holt line but have some ideas. Perhaps we can discuss this further if you e-mail me privately.
2. Do you have anything else other than the Evans DNA match that would indicate my Pleasant Holt might actually be an Evans? I've e-mailed through the years with the niece of the Evans man whose DNA matched my brother's exactly. She knows that her earliest Evans ancestor gave GA as his birthplace, but nothing more.
I'm really interested in this Holt whose grandfather may have been born in OH. Feel free to e-mail me and tell me more if you can.
I have talked with Ross Poore often on his DNA match with my Holts. Since I have documented proof that Pleasant was the father of at least one illegitimate child (court minutes where Litha Collins asked for child support), it may well be that the Poore connection is through Pleasant fathering a child given the surname Poore. The same may be true for the Henry Holt who was first found in Floyd Co., KY and always gave TN as his birthplace in the census records.
