I may have some information to help you some. Osbourne L. Ball, son of William and Betty (Deboard) Ball was born in 1779 in Buncombe County, NC, whe his parent ahd migrated from Iredell County, NC. He married Martha Patsy Thomason on Spetember 26, 1803 in Grainger Couty, TN. She was the daughter of Fleming Thomason and Ann Smith. Osbourne and Martha had sixteen children: Marion, Lefty H., Royal, Riley, Merman, Maranie (known as Rainy), Mary, Alfred, Elmira, Meda, Nelso, Morgan, Lunceford, Nigel, Adonijah, and Ira. Grainger County Court records indicate that the was a land dispute invloving Osbourne, his wife, and Fleming Thomason in 1804. Osbourne Ball and Fleming claimed to have purchased land from a man right before he died, yet the man's will left the land to his children. Osbourne produced a deed showing that the land was rightfully his and a court battle ensued. In 1805 the court ruled that the Ball Fleming deed was a forgery. This must have caused Osbourne and Martha to temporarily leave East Tennesee, as their son Royal, was born in Granville County, NC in 1806. They must not ahve stayed long there because Riley, the next born was born in Cocke County Tennessse. I hope this helps. It is information that I dug but working on our family tree. We are descended from Osbourne's son Royal. Todd Morris Notify Administrator about this message?
