Ken, thanks for sharing the 1850 census entries for the Stone family there. I didn't that information in my genealogy database.

This William Stone's age and birth location listed in the 1850 census matches the 1793 birth year and location known for our William.

The close proximity of John B. Stone's residence to that of Samuel Gunter and Millie Stone Gunter at least suggests some kinship between John and Millie. I'm inclined to think at this stage of research that John probably is an uncle to Millie, until I can find more information about William's parents and siblings to confirm this.

16 William Stone families in the 1820 VA census--yikes! I also need to search the 1810/1820 Warren/Cannon TN census records for William. If the story is true that Stone's River in Warren/Cannon Co TN was named after William (or his family there), presumably William and/or his parents or siblings were among the original settlers in this area.

Regards, John Reid
