Thomas J. Thompson, born 1838 Bedford Co. TN.

I am looking for the family of Thomas J. Thompson. His Civil War pension application, which he filled out hisself, tells that he was born in Bedford Co., TN., in July, 1838.

I am not sure where he was living when he joined the Confederate Army, but he joined MS.,46th, Co., E., which was formed from men in Yazoo and Warren Co.'s in MS.

I have not had much luck locating the family he may have been in, in one of these counties, because while the list of Thompson's is shown for some of the Slave Schedules, some of the census page's of 1850 and 1860 are missing now for those counties.

However, in looking at the Slave Schedules, and comparing the names (or initials in most cases), of Warren and Yazoo Co.'s in MS., during those times, to the names I am seeing on posting regarding Bedford Co., TN., I do see one which looks promising.

It is R.W. Thompson, found on the 1850 Yazoo Co., MS., slave Schedule.
I also find a T.J. Thompson listed on the 1845 State census in Warren Co., and find these intials also on the Warren Co. Slave Schedule for 1860.

I am hoping someone who has done research on the Thompson's of Bedford Co., TN., might know which of the Thompson families of this county who were there in 1838, might have had a son named Thomas J. Thompson.

Thomas J. Thompson married Talitha Jane Gist in Prentiss Co., MS., in 1876, then moved to Hardin Co., TN., by 1880.
They then moved to Tipton Co., TN., sometime after 1880, but before 1900 where they lived out their lives.
They had 11 children by 1910 according to what Talitha told the census recorder, and from the census's I have the names of all but one who apparently died before the age of 10. Those children were named;

Lewis F.
Allis (Alice)
Willie Mae (female)

Thank-you for any help.
