Sheriff of Bedford County!

I am looking for information and documented proof that my 4th great grandfather William Sherwood Jackson was sheriff of Bedford County. I believe he could have been sheriff sometime between the years 1860 and 1870 (I think he was sheriff for 7 or 8 years). William had been married twice. His first wife was Ann Collins and they had 3 children: Elisha Payne, Willoughby Alexander, and William Bailey Paton.
His second wife was Martha Jane Goodwin and they had 4 children: Terry L.H., Hillery H(which was a son), Mary Martha Virgina, and Anna Kate Tennesse. I believe the second wife was the one whom he was married to when he was sheriff. In 1873 he and his family moved to Arkansas where he and his wife lived the rest of their lifes.
If any one can direct me in the right direction on finding the "sheriff" info it would be greatly appreciated. If anyone has any information on any of the above mention family that would be a great help also!
Email me at or Either one will be fine!
Thank you in advance.
Stacy in Arkansas.
