During the civil war and on up into the 1870's there were some Clardys that lived around Unionville (Bedford Co.) I have a county district map that shows everyone in Bedford Co. in 1878 and where they lived.Plus I have a civil war diary of a Confederate private that mentions a widow Clardy that lived near Unionville. Her house is not there anymore but I know where it was.
