Most of what I have on this couple came from the 1850 Census, and excerpts from a history of Rover and the 10 Civil District of Bedford CO, TN. Stephen's pat'l GM, Mrs John Sanders Sr, was Susannah Wheeler, and I am trying to determine if Susannah's bro, Nathan, was an ancestor of mine. I do NOT know when Stephen and Elizabeth married. Jas & Temp Claxton were in the 8th Civil Dist at 1850, with the following ch at home: Hy 21, Caroline 19, John 17, Noah 14, Temp 12, G Coleman 10, Emily 6, Martha 4. Nearby were families of Jas A Claxton 23 and Henderson Claxton 26, ea married w/one ch. Elizabeth's ch included
1.Temperance bn ca 1845 md ? Tucker
2.Nancy bn 04 APR 1848 d 28 DEC 1933 md G A or C A Chambless; at least 3 ch
3.Wm Franklin bn 06 AUG 1850 d 18 JUN 1932 md Talitha Ann Wheeler; at least 3 ch
4. John W bn ca 1853 d 1931 md Nancy A ?; at least 1 ch
5. J Henry bn 02 JAN 1855 d 15 APR 1933 md Malissa Jane Brown; at least 1 ch
6. Hiram A bn 31 MAR 1859 d 19 APR 1917 md Emma Ann ? (1862-1916); at least 2 ch
7. Sally (1861-33) md Calvin Brown (1858-32)
8. Nathan Stephan bn 07 APR 1861 d 1935 md Molly Ray; at least 1 ch
There were ties to other families in my notes such as Potts and Pressgrove. Nathan's son, Eugene Cleveland Sanders md Mahala Palestine Potts d/o Jamerson Wm Potts and Sarah Jane Maxwell. Sarah was a 2nd cousin of my gGM, Jemima Ann (Maxwell) North.
How much info are you seeking, and on which individuals? I can provide more on Wheeler, Potts, Pressgrove, and Maxwell, but not quite as much on Sanders or Claxton.
