Missed placed Family of Daniel Shipman and Elizabeth Burleson
Shelbyville Library Bedford County TN has a Historical Quarterly that has a large article written by land historian Timothy R. Marsh of Shelbyville, TN. It is a History of Shipman Creek that is east of Shelbyville road 41-A in the Rowesville Area. Also Shipman family History and Shipman family records. Daniel Shipman was listed in Captain Richard Neeleys Company 25th district in 1812, in the 1920 Census most of the 25th District is missing which explains the missing
Shipman's. The 1930 census listed all the Shipman families up and down Shipman Creek as Chisum. Records show Shipman's (of the Daniel Shipman and Elizabeth Burleson descendants) owning the land and there had never been Chisums listed in the Tax, Census or Deed books.
As the Shipman's sold there land they went to Newton, Lawrence, Carroll, Christian, Butler and Camden County's in Missouri. The Shipman history in the book ‘Heritage" Volume 1 Rutherford Co. N.C. Family group 546 by James E Lancaster is the early history of this Family. Ozar'kin Vol.VII, No. Spring 1985 page 29 is also good info.
