Hi Gerald, thank you for replying.
What I have is a James Roberts (1810 NC) that married Nancy Haley (1810 NC) in Beford co TN in 1829 or 1834. Her father was Edward Taylor Haley Sr. (1779 VA) and Susanna Pratt (1784 NC).
I have nothing on this James, only he was born in NC and no idea of his father or mother.

What I'd like to find is any connection to other Roberts families in Bedford county.

The first known census I find James in is 1840 Bedford with wife and 3 children, then find him in Pope co IL 1850 with same family and no other known relatives there either.
As for 1830 Bedford co TN, I did find one James Roberts as head of household (1 male 20-30 yrs) (1 male 30-40 yrs) (1 female 40-50). So, as far as this James goes I don't know if he is mine. The next nearest Roberts was one Nathaniel and then a William and a Joseph, they are several pages over.

I'm not familiar with the Elizabeth Haley or John Roberts you mention, but am always open for suggestions or ideas.
Could this John that you mentioned be the father of James?
Thanks again, Shana
