I am actually researching the family of Thomas Noblett of Blount Co., TN. I am also researching the Hickman and Whinery famiilies.
In doing so, I am also researching many of the Noblett families of TN.
I have been attempting to learn about the family of William Noblett and Mary Whinery of Bedford Co., TN. It does seem that William and Mary definitely had a son, Joshua. I am having trouble placing the rest of the Noblett males found in 1850 Bedford.
Census research of early Bedford is making this research quite complicated. There is a John Noblett the same age as William in 1820. In 1830 there is an older Jacob Noblett age 60-70 (b: 1760-1770) in Bedford, plus William and John. John and Jacob could be the parents of the Noblett males found in 1850 Bedford. Since I don’t know, I am placing all of the 1850 Nobletts under William , except for Jacob.
I probably have not found all the Noblett families in early Bedford.
It is said by some researchers the William Noblett who married Mary Whinery was the son of Robert Whinery. Robert is said to have other sons, John and Jacob.

LETTERS FROM DESCENDANTS OF THE TENNESSEE BRANCH.
Letter of M. G. NOBLITT, Flat Creek, Route No. 2, Tennessee,
November 3, 1904.
My grandfather, William Noblitt, was from North Carolina. He first settled in Bedford County, Tennessee. I do not know the year. He, with his two sons, William and Joshua, removed about fifty years ago; I do not remember them. My father, John Noblitt, and his brother Abraham, continued in Tennessee. They married sisters, daughters of David Rozier, and raised families, only two of each family living. Father died October 28, 1875; Abraham died before I was born. His son, J. M. Noblitt, of McKinnie, Texas, and a daughter, Harriet Mediris, resides at 1002 Woodland Street, Nashville, Tennessee. My brother, D. T. Noblitt, and I are the last of my father's family. We live on adjoining farms. My brother is sixty-nine years of age and has four sons and two daughters living. I live on the old home place, and have four children--a daughter, aged seven years, and three sons, aged twelve years, nine years, and eight months respectively. My father had two other sons and one daughter, who raised families; each son had two daughters and one son. The daughter had one daughter; the two sons were my elder brothers; the widow of the eldest (J. D. Noblitt), with two little girls, and one daughter survive; the other brother, William H. Noblitt, went to Texas in 1861, was in the war, wounded and subsequently died of the effect, leaving a widow, two daughters and a baby boy, now

Professor W. T. Noblitt, of Kerrville, Texas. There are other Noblitts here who are related to us, but I am unable to trace the connection. I have a tenant on my farm who is the son of J. H. Noblitt, who died three years ago, leaving four brothers who still live in adjoining counties.
SUMMARY OF LETTER OF M. G. NOBLITT.
William Noblitt, of North Carolina, settled in Bedford County, Tennessee. He had: William, John, Abraham and Joshua. William and Joshua removed from Tennessee with their father. John married a daughter of David Rozier, and had: D. T. Noblitt, of Flat Creek, Tenn.; J. D. Noblitt, M. G. Noblitt, and William H. Noblitt, father of Professor W. T. Noblitt, of Texas. Abraham also married a daughter of David Rozier, and had: J. M. Noblitt, of McKinnie, Texas, and Harriet Noblitt, who married Mr. Mediris and lives in Nashville, Tennessee.

I am researching this family also. John H. Birge married Rebecca Noblett on 12-7-1873 in Benton County, AR. Rebecca Noblett is the daughter of Nancy and Joshua Noblett.
The 1880 census for Hico Twp., Benton County, Arkansas lists the following:
Burg, John, age 56 (should be spelled Birge)
Burg, Rebecca, age 26
Burg, John L., age 12
Burg, Albert D., age 10
Burg, Harvey, age 5
Burg, ? (son), age 2
Living two houses away is Rebecca's mother
Noblett, Nancy (widow), age 60
Noblett, William, age 34
Noblett, Charles, age 20 (this is my great grandfather)
I am searching for Nancy's maiden name and information on her children: William, Alexander, Stephen, Newton, Samuel (twin), Rebecca (twin), Charles, Eliza, and Mary. Nancy remarried on 9-13-1881 to Elias W. Perry in Benton County, Arkansas. The only burial information I have is for Charles Noblett, who was buried in Benge Cemetery, Mayes County, Oklahoma. Do you have any information on Nancy and family?

Well, I think the mystery has ended, but now I will rely on some of you veteran Noblett researchers to help me and another family member fill in the blanks. Charles was the 7th child of Joshua Noblett and Nancy A. ?. The family was from Bedford Co., Tenn. and settled in Benton Co., Arkansas. Joshua, supposedly, also descends from the John Noblett and Ann Brereton line. Joshua is son of William Noblett and Mary Whinery. William is son of Robert and unknown. Robert is son of William Noblett and Cathrine Whinery. William is son of John Noblett and Ann Brereton.
If anyone out there is willing to share to round out this info and for comparison, please e-mail me direct.
