I agree with you! If I had started with TMG and skipped FTM altogether, my data would be better organized. I still find myself organizing old entries I haven't looked at in years. The TMG structure is much better than any genealogy program I've tested (FTM, Legacy, PAF, Ancestry.com's old program, and a few others I can't remember the names of).

Don't even try to import a TMG data file into the new FTM 2008. It will take years to get it straightened out because is moves things from one field to another. What it does with the sources and places is a nightmare. In the initial release of FTM 2008 if you had external image files linked in TMG, FTM would copy them, rename them to something meaningless, then delete your original image files. They fixed this, but it still needs work.
