The Raleigh, N.C., News & Observer, reports the death of WWII Navy F6F Hellcat pilot, John David "Jack" Titchener, Sr., December 30, 1921-November 23, 1912, age 89, of Fayetteville, N.C., formerly of Wilson (internment Maplewood Cemetery), Wightsville Beach, and Wilmington, N.C., where he was a communicant at historic St. James Episcopal Church. He was born Cortland, N.Y., the son of Walter Edmund Titchener and Ruth Lindburg Titchener. His wife and high school sweetheart, Elizabeth Cook Rogers, preceded him. Surviving sons are Robert Lee Tichtener of Portland, Oregon; Walter Edmund Titchener,of Dunn, N.C.; John David Titchener, Jr.,and Edmund Tichener, II, of Raleigh. Condolences: www.joyners.net.
