Hi,
Are you in Australia? I am in the US and had never heard of Tisdall Wine but knew a branch of my family went there. I can trace the family back to King Edward of England.
Now I can only trace the actual name "Tisdall" back to around 1500. Yes they were wealthy land owners. There is a Tisdall Manor/Castle (whatever you want to call it) in County Meath, Ireland. It is called Charlesfort. My branch went to County Cork, and then my ggg grandfather came to the US in 1832.
I am not sure of the orgin of the name, some say it is Norse while others believe it comes from the English surname Teasdale..I don't know. Now our ancestors that were granted the coat of arms (different than a crest)in a book i found it states they proved to be of noble English ancestry...I do not know where they comes from unless they are refering to King Edward.

Take care,
Lisa
