Pleasant Tisdale Family Question
I am really hoping someone can answer this question for me.
Pleasant Tisdale's first wife was Mary Ann Corbin. She died after giving birth to William Pleasant Tisdale in 1775. He remarries to Mary Ann Flowers and has several children with her.Pleasant and Mary Ann Flowers name their first child Peter Corbin Tisdale. Why would they use his first wife's maiden name as the middle name of their first born child? Was Mary Ann Flowers a Corbin relative of Mary Ann Corbin's? I've always wondered if Mary Ann Flowers was the first wife and the mother of William Pleasant and Mary Ann Corbin was the second wife? Everyone keeps telling me no, but it seems a little strange to me. One thing is for sure, There had to be two different wives because there is no way that William Pleasant's mother could have given birth to him in 1775 and then had children into her 50's. The 1850 census of the Mary Tisdale also proves this Mary could not be the mother of William Pleasant. To be honest with you, I personally haven't seen any form of documentation with the maiden names of Corbin or Flowers attached to either of the Mary's. I've seen the names of Mary Corbin and Mary Flowers hundreds of times in connection with Pleasant, but I have no idea where this is coming from? It is alleged that Mary Corbin died in SC circa 1775 and Mary Flowers died in MS circa 1850-52.Where are they buried and who were their parents? There is no doubt that the Mary who died in MS was the last wife of Pleasant.I have documentation proving that, but what was her true last name? I hope someone can help.....
