Mr. Tipton,
You can find out practically all that anybody knows about him by contacting the Tipton-Haynes Historical Association, P.O. Box 225, Johnson City, Tennessee 37605, ph. no. (423) 926-3631. His home is a State Historical Site. The administrator, Penny McLaughlin, can put you in touch with the Tipton Family Association, or you can attend the Tipton Family Reunion being held Aug 14 - 16, this year, at the site in Johnson City.

On a more personal note, if your interest is genealogical, I am a direct descendant and am more than willing to exchange information if you will contact me at the above e-mail.

Sincerely,
Deborah E. Harvey
