BRADENTON, Fla. - Virginia Tipsword went to be with the Lord on April 20, 2011.
She was born Aug. 4, 1932, in Akron, Ohio, to the late Rev. and Mrs. Arnold Clymer. She lived in Galesburg and was a snowbird to Bradenton, Fla., for 19 years before making Bradenton her permanent residence in 2008.
She was a homemaker. She was a member of Braden River United Methodist Church, and previous member of Galesburg First United Methodist Church.
Virginia was a devoted and caring wife for 56 years to Bill.
Survivors include one son, Doug (Michelle) Tipsword of Bradenton; one daughter, Sally (David) Dillard of Bradenton; one brother, Bishop Wayne (Virginia) Clymer of Wazata, Minn.; and five grandchildren, Nick Yoho, Kelli Tipsword, Josh Dillard, Doug Tipsword Jr. and Jacob Dillard.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, April 25, 2011, at Manasota Memorial Park and Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 26, 2011, at Braden River United Methodist Church. A memorial has been established to Tidewell Hospice.

BETHANY - Mildred E. Tipsword, 90, of Bethany died at 10:30 p.m. Monday (Sept. 27, 2010) in the Fair Havens Christian Home in Decatur.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Reed Funeral Home in Sullivan with the Rev. Jack Wieland officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Marrowbone Township Cemetery in Bethany.
She was born Feb. 8, 1920, in Bethany, the daughter of Roy H. and Inez L. Fewell Marlow. She married Merwyn Tipsword in 1940; he died in 1980.
Survivors include two sons, David Tipsword of Bloomington and Stanley Tipsword of Bethany; sisters, Marvene Walton of Sullivan, Avis Smith of Lovington and Inez Green; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
She also was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
Mrs. Tipsword was a teller and bookkeeper at the Scott State Bank in Bethany. She was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church and the Moultrie County Home Extension.

MASON - Wayne Tipsword, 81, of Mason died at 12:49 a.m. Friday, June 11, 2010, at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital, Effingham.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 Monday at Mason Christian Church with Rob McKinney officiating. Burial will be in Mason Cemetery, Mason, with military rites by Edgewood American Legion Post 1168. Wayne was born Sept. 11, 1928, in Moultrie County, the son of Edward and Nellie (Clark) Tipsword. He married Connie Yingst on Oct. 30, 1954.
He was retired from Fedders, Effingham, was a member of Mason Christian Church and was a past fire chief and volunteer of Mason Fire Department. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean War.
He is survived by his wife, Connie of Mason; son, Rick (fianc Faith Braden) of Mowequa; daughters Carla (Ron) Holste of Marshall, Mo., Sharon Burk of Bryan, Texas, Glenda Tipsword of Mason, Nellie (Mike) Bergfeld of Waston, Tonya (Ed) Hoene of Neoga and Amy (Wayne) Ruholl of Dieterich; sister, Velma Baucum of Emerson, Ark.; 18 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and three great-stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Erma Thompson and Ruby Logsdon; two brothers, Bill and Edward Jr.; one grandchild, Shane Burk; and two great-grandchildren, Karoline and Korey Byers.

SPRINGFIELD - Grover J. Tipsword, 86, of Springfield, formerly of Brighton, died at 9:27 p.m. Thursday, May 6, 2010, at Memorial Medical Center.
He was born in Valley City on Sept. 16, 1923, the son of Grover and Anna (Kuykendall) Tipsword. He married Josephine F. (Schetter) Tipsword on July 3, 1945, in Alton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a son, Grover Joe Tipsword; two brothers, Valley Wallace Tipsword and Gerald Lee Tipsword; and four sisters, Cleta Yates, Evelyn Tipsword, Gladys Iona Hartmann, and Verlie Mae MacLin.
He is survived by two daughters, Joyce (Allen) Oertel of Springfield and Carol (Charles) Shelton of Bethalto; a son, Don (Linda) Tipsword of Liberty Hill, Texas; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a sister, Martha Berry of Puxico, Mo.; several nieces and nephews; and the Regency family of caregivers who cared for Grover for the past five and a half years.
Grover was a long-distance truck driver for Alton Boxboard, retiring after 38 years. He was a member of Jerseyville Moose, Knights of Columbus, Betsey Ann Association, and a proud member of the NRA.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, May 9, 2010, at Targhetta and Wooldridge Funeral Home in Brighton. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, May 10, 2010, at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Brighton, with Father Raphael Paul officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Alton.
Memorials may be made to St. Alphonsus Catholic Church or the Regency Memorial Scholarship (for staff continuing education).
